MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING at Jimmy’s Farm, Suffolk

Four separate considerations on yesterday evening’s experience:

(1) The mighty woodland stage in a glade is absolutely unmissable as a venue. Can’t do it justice here. (However, the logistics of seating are difficult when it is a full house, as it was. Frustrating to manage one’s picnic and let others to their seats, and little leg room. Not much scope for taking your own garden chairs – unless you get there very early?)

(2) The six young actors shown below were superlative, and some are going to be famous without a doubt. Comic geniuses. Tati and Monty Python and other things come to mind.

(3) The comic style and its music /singing were very entertaining as well as the interaction with the audience. A free wheeling adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing, with some good special effects, especially in the woodland setting. And great scenes of poignancy, too.

(4) The Shakespeare play itself, as with all his work, leaves much to be desired in my view of art and literature. As ever, over-rated and tiresome. Raised to new levels by this production.
