THIRTY TRIBUTES TO CALVINO by Rhys Hughes
Gloomy Seahorse Press 2015
Cover Art: Brankica Bozinovska 2015
I received this book today from the printer here.
This printed book is the only version that contains my collaboration with the author in the early 1990s entitled ‘Broom Cupboard of Crossed Destinies’. The Ebook version includes a replacement story. The formatting of the realbook allowed the inclusion of meaning-essential artwork (examples shown below) and this is the first time it has been presented since the original publication in the legendary ‘Psychotrope’ magazine in 2001.

If I carry out a real-time review of this book, it will appear in the comment stream below as and when I happen to read it in the normal course of my life…
JOURNEYS BEYOND ADVICE by Rhys Hughes
Originally published by Sarob Press in 2002, and now re-published in 2014 by Gloomy Seahorse Press, a new book to me that I have just purchased direct from the printer.

Quoted on the back cover:
“Thank you so much for the novella ‘The World Beyond the Stairwell’ in Journeys Beyond Advice. It has given me such great pleasure, even though the light here is quite dim. How wonderful to read a story that is unabashedly a tip of the hat/ homage, and yet truly original, funny and yet serious. And sprinkled with the additional pleasures of meeting up with so many amazing beasties. This, to my mind, was one of the best novellas of 2002. I hope it gets on award ballots.” – JEFF VANDERMEER
“‘The World Beyond the Stairwell’ may well be the finest tribute (with love) to William Hope Hodgson ever written.” – JOHN CLUTE

RHYSOP’S FABLES
Unhelpful and irresponsible fables for the modern age
I have just purchased this book direct from the printer and intend to carry out one of my real-time reviews of it. There are 207 fables and I intend to review each one on a daily bedtime basis just as I am reviewing the same author’s flash fictions here on a daily breakfast basis. Of course, I cannot guarantee it will always be on a daily basis if normal life intervenes!

FLASH IN THE PANTHEON by Rhys Hughes
I have just purchased this book direct from the printer and intend to carry out one of my real-time reviews of it. As there are 123 tales, I expect I shall only comment on certain of them as I go through.
It may or may not be significant that I have been concurrently real-time reviewing here ‘Finnegans Wake’ by James Joyce, with the second half of that novel still to be read!
